Lincoln Cathedral

We were commissioned by Lincoln Cathedral to create two exclusive products for their gift store, designed to celebrate the history, beauty, and heritage of the cloister gardens.

Native Seed Ball Box:
These special Eco Seed Balls contain a carefully researched mix of native flowers inspired by the cloister gardens. Historically, the cloister gardens featured a range of plants that were quite difficult to care for, and over time many were replaced with hardier, lower maintenance varieties. In designing this seed ball mix, we took inspiration from both the original plantings and elements of Lincoln Cathedral itself, including the 1988 tapestry in the Treasury, which displays the 16 flowers traditionally associated with the Virgin Mary, and the Victorian glass in the nave, which features simpler five-petal flower motifs, like blue ones resembling forget-me-nots and yellow ones reminiscent of buttercups. These historical references guided our choice of seeds, creating a blend that is both beautiful, easy to grow, and deeply connected to the Cathedral’s story.

We also created a set of four plantable cards featuring images of Lincoln Cathedral taken from The Dean’s Garden area. Each card can be planted to grow wildflowers and comes with envelopes, with the Lincoln Cathedral logo printed on the back.

Both products are exclusive to the Lincoln Cathedral Gift Store and celebrate the Cathedral’s heritage while encouraging people to bring native flowers back to life in their own gardens.
